Can't boot from CD

I've burned two disks from the 8.10 iso (http://ubuntu-rescue-remix.org/) using Sonic. I've tried booting both CDs on two different computers. In both cases the computer failed to boot from the CD and booted into XP. The BIOS on both computers is set to boot from CD first.

I have a XP installation disk which I have no problem booting from, so the computer/BIOS/drive are not the problem here. Is there some other non-obvious thing I need to do to be able to boot from the Rescue Remix?

Problem solved. I tried two

Problem solved.

I tried two versions of bundled (crippled) Sonic Record Now which cannot create a boot disk from an iso image (you end up with the iso file burned onto the cd).

If anyone comes across this thread and is having trouble creating a boot disk from the iso I highly recommend the free version of Deep Burner (www.deepburner.com). It's easy, free and it got the job done for me!

Infrarecorder (http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/) is free/libre software that can reliably burn an so image and is what I recommend to Windows users to use.

I find that free versions of proprietary software often presents problems as you describe, if they are simply not flat out spyware/malware.
