Hi there,
What the easier way to unformat a NTFS partition? I tryed testdisk but he only finds the new (empty) partition created by the Windows XP install.
I need to know the folder tree of the previus partition, not just get the files (I already got then using photoget).
Thx in advance.

Yes, but there is nothing to repair, as the new (empty) partition is ok (both boot sector and MTF). I think need a way two rebuild the partition and the MFT directly from the folders/files.
Is there any way?

Yes, I did. It did not find nothing new.
Actualy, photorec shows the whole disk as a unused "D" partition and on the second line the partition created by the formating process I want to undo!
Is there any utility or command on rescue-remix that undo the format?

There is no utility that I know of that can rebuild the metadata or otherwise unformat a filesystem.
Perhaps you don't need the whole filesystem. Maybe The Sleuth Kit can achieve something useful for you.
What exactly do you need? (Don't tell me that you need the filesystem to be bootable and usable as it was before you accidentally formatted it.)
